Manifest

Techno has always been the music of the future. It contains many fantasies about a new, technological world, not to mention spatiotemporal travel or the discovery of new planets, even universes.

Shaded Records is an investigation of hidden aspects of time; an investigation of the future that's increasingly reflected in our present day. It's an investigation of social stress and the pressures that multiply in modern cities.

This music is linked with the graphic arts, too: it tells of a forthcoming, irreversible collapse, plus the approach of negative changes in both social and private existence. These changes involve more than economic crises, military aggression, religious uprisings, poverty or hunger. They involve more than natural catastrophes or any predictions of an apocalypse.

We increasingly sense these shifts with every day; we sense them in the tension that grows around us all. Listen to your own existence for a few seconds, and you'll see what we mean.

You'll find neither fickle nor pointless entertainment here. Instead we offer a focus upon the storm that's coming. We offer confidence and an acceptance of our shared path – a path that must be travelled in order that we become stronger and proceed to a new, beautiful world.

The history of Shaded Records is that of unwavering attention upon the future's terrifying darkness; it's also a desire to see the splendid dawn that lies beyond that darkness.

The label is based in the beautiful city of St Petersburg – a city rich in two centuries of architecture.

The label's artwork is prepared using unique 35mm photographic equipment. It transmits the music's ambience in antique images, together with elements of local architecture from various ages.

Press Release

Shaded Records present the first chapter of a melancholy tale, together with artwork from the beautiful city of Saint Petersburg.
Apocalyptic techno brings us closer to a precipice - in the forms of a collective march.
Everybody has been aware of that movement towards an abyss, but Shaded Records whisper insistently that we have to move further - towards the drop.
We simply must dance.
Listen to events in the background: wars are ongoing, gods fall from the sky, and markets collapse.
Nonetheless, the march goes on.
This is techno from a frozen megapolis for those who are willing to surrender all hope - but will never do so.

Press Release

This EP is a mixture of dubstepping beats &techno/electro/ethnic musics amalgam.

Shaded 02' is a perfect example of tight-knit production. A 4 track EP it blends the modern ethics of dance music together to create a truly satisfying sound.
The Last Night is a snarling, dark techno with with Detroit style drum arrangements.
Distortions of the Night is a severed footwork track with haunting pads and wraithlike vocals.
New Crisis sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock score rearranged by tribal musicians.
The one to look out for though is Deadly Storm, with it's incredible percussion and adrenalized vocals casts a sensation of being in an aboriginal festival a thousands of miles away. review by i-hate-fun
